Is Eesha Rebba one of Telugu Cinema's Best Kept Secrets? (The Continuation)

Hey y'all. Ya girl is back, and feeling a lot better. I know the last blog post I expressed how I was going through a lot of intense negative emotions with even writing it. Boy, was that something?  I get where I was coming from and it is super, super valid, but in this blog post I want it to be more about possibility and on more positive aspects of this topic. This is not about whether or not Eesha Rebba will become the next big world superstar. Yes, I just said that, and fam, it feels so damn good.

Anyway, it's not about how successful Eesha will be. My existence does not depend on that because it's way out of my control and it's unhealthy to do something like that. I just want to take into mind what can open up not just for Eesha, but for the our communities. At least, what can Eesha's current success open windows to. So let's just make this blog a wonderful fairy tale like space.............an empty canvas where anything is possible. Are y'all up for that?

While I do agree that it's unhealthy to project onto people my hopes and dreams for them, I do believe I can dream for others. And that is exactly what I will allow myself to do, unapologetic-ally.

What has Eesha's current success opened up? Like I said in the last post, Eesha is the only Telugu actress getting any sort of notoriety nowadays. I'm sure there are a lot of Telugu girls, whether they are NRIs or brought up in the motherland, that have a true calling to be in showbiz and the performing and creative arts. In that in-depth interview, Eesha did state that a lot of girls who want to go into showbiz look up to her, because there is a great sense of comfort to know a woman of their community and culture, who is known for her talent and beauty, is in the Telugu film industry. That's awesome, right? To add on to that, she is brown skinned!! I keep saying that a lot, but it's very important. Indian societies, particularly Telugu societies, have been shattered by colorism. Telugu movies, for the longest time, have propagated this over-glamorized, over-glorified depiction of western culture and whiteness. Here we have Eesha Rebba who does not fit into that depiction and she had become known for her talent. She is basically synonymous with talent and great work ethic. Seriously. In the Telugu film industry, there aren't any young brown or dark skinned actresses, besides Eesha, as there are actors. Out of all of the lead actresses in Telugu films, Eesha is one of the few actresses that most closely represents how most Telugu girls actually look. With talent and beauty, Eesha Rebba's success does show that Telugu girls have always been, are, and will always be beautiful, especially those that are melanated, like ya girl.......LOL!!

Now, here is the fun part. It may seen super far fetched, but just go along with it. Let's just say, hypothetically, that Eesha does become a highly successful actress.....not just any type of successful, I'm talking about that Priyanka Chopra type of successful.

That means she would be international. Just let that sink in. She would be international.

I am a little unclear as to how I should continue this post. I mean, why not? Why not she be a highly successful actress? She's talented, and if given more groundbreaking roles like her role in Awe, she could be a powerhouse in the TFI. And as a Telugu woman, think of the impact she would make on Telugu societies and the TFI as a whole. I mean, she is already making an impact, and that impact would only become bigger and more powerful, in the best way possible. Wouldn't that be amazing?

The impact she would have would be reminiscent of successful Telugu origin leading actresses from the past (eg: Savitri, Kanchana, Anjali Devi, Vijayashanti) and the influence they had on the general audiences and TFI as a whole. And Eesha would be bringing that back. Well, she would be one of the Telugu actresses to bring that back.

Let's reflect on the past Telugu actresses' successes. From what I know, a lot of them were super popular. They were known for their talent and contribution to cinema so much so that they out-shined their male counterparts. They were known for taking on super groundbreaking roles that are never to be forgotten.

For example, Vijayashanti starred in the 1990 Telugu film Karthavyam as a tough cup and the movie was a huge blockbuster. According to Wikipedia: "the film, made with a budget of about 90 lakhs and grossed over 7 crores in southern territories alone.[18] The film is screened at 14th International Film Festival of India in the mainstream section.[19]She[VijayaShanti] was the third woman from Telugu cinema to win the award after Sharada and Archana. The success of this movie saw her moving away from glamorous roles and limiting herself to lady oriented roles. According to Sify, In a hero-worshipping world of Indian Cinema, to be precise, South Indian cinema, there is one heroine who calls her shots is Vijayashanti.[20] "There were people who questioned how can a Heroine attain the image of Hero & charge highest remuneration. But, I[Vijayashanti] had overcome all of the hurdles and answered the critics with successful films". "

This goes to show that the impact that these actresses had was huge. It was a cultural movement. They inspired art and creativity at such a deep level that it often felt otherworldly.

If Eesha and other talented Telugu actresses become superstar actresses, that type of impact could be revived. As of now, Eesha is the only Telugu actress gaining notoriety. As of now, she is the closest one to break that glass ceiling and help and inspire others to revive that type of impact and cultural movement. This time for the long run.

The big difference between back then and today is that now, we have social media and have more access to information than ever before. In the digital age, we now know more about international entertainment than ever before (eg. Bollywood, KPop, etc.). Therefore, this "revival of the Telugu actress" could reach a much larger audience now. At least, that's what I think.

Imagine if Eesha were to really break that glass ceiling.

Bow Down To Eesha Rebba!!!! (LOL!! I am so extra.)

Eesha does NOT have to be one to do that. If there are other Telugu actresses that do that, great. The reason why I am using her as an example is because, from what I know, she is currently the Telugu actress getting the most notoriety. Please let me know if there are any other Telugu actresses I should know of. This scenario that I am using is strictly hypothetical.

OK, let's get back to the topic. What if Eesha were to break that glass ceiling? In the last post, I mentioned how Eesha doesn't play victim due to her lack of opportunities. She makes the best out of the roles she gets. Imagine she were to take that work ethic to a whole other level. Yes, she makes the most of the roles she gets, but instead of waiting for the bigger offers to come and kind of be made to be a puppet in the TFI system, she says "Enough is enough!! I'm tired of this shit. I know I am way better than this and I will step in the vibration of what it is like to be someone that completely disrupts the status quo of Telugu cinema and Indian cinema as a whole, because honestly the status quo is not good. And I will carve out my own path and really take my career in my own hands." Not that she is not doing that. You never know, she may be taking on this approach as of this moment.

The impact her success would have would show that in the modern world, Telugu girls are lit AF and deserve to feel awesome about themselves.

I do understand that it's the parents' responsibility to instill that confidence in their daughters, but unfortunately a lot of Telugu girls grow up in families where that is not the norm. Having someone in a medium that is as powerful as the TFI that is of their language is a huge plus.

There would be so much power in the revival of the Telugu actress. Eesha would bring so much spark and finesse that audiences would not want to let her go because she would have something amazing to offer. Not that she doesn't now. She does, but the masses have not recognized it and she isn't given better roles in better movies. That's just my opinion.

Eesha could be as influential as the Telugu actresses from the past. Let's not forget that the TFI is one of the biggest film industries in India and is on it's way to become one of the biggest film industries in the world. You heard me........one of the biggest film industries in the world.

That level of notoriety + TFI becoming larger day by day + the power of Internet & social media
=
global takeover (I told you this would be that Priyanka Chopra type of successful.)

Exactly, keep gasping!! LOL!

Y'all, it's about time we have a Telugu global movie star. Or maybe I'm pushing it. IDK, but that would be amazing. Think about it. Eesha Rebba as one of Telugu cinema's first ever global stars. That would be so surreal. Like, what in the world? Eesha Rebba being that recognizable? A brown skinned Telugu actress being that famous? That's never heard of.

To a film industry and a society that is obsessed with Western culture and who don't want their women and girls to be associated with that, Eesha Rebba's possible international fame will be a slap in their faces. Watch out, people. Queen Eesha is on her way!!
